U.S. Census Data

Data.gov is the home of U.S. Government open data portal. Quick links to city data, county, and state

-Census Data can be found in many places. The main Census.gov website contains data, and links to the data products below:    Decennial Census - every ten years, this is a total head count for the U.S. population as well as social, demographic and economic characteristics. Main population site here. In between the Decennial Census, the American Community Survey takes smaller samples from the population to provide annual profiles of U.S. populations. 

- An easy way to access most of the data is via the Data.Census.Gov You can obtain data in various formats (maps, tables, reports, etc). 

-Another quick access site is the Census Reporter, which makes data easy to use. Here you can find facts, visualize data and see the  original data files used. 

- Statistical Abstract of the United States, published since 1878, and ending in 2012,this was the authoritative and comprehensive summary of statistics on the social, political, and economic organization of the United States.

-Quick Facts (US Census) City of Abilene: Links to the US Census data for Abilene for a quick snapshot of statistical information. Quick Facts is also a portal for online maps, charts and data download.

FedStats - aggregates links and stats generated by various government agencies. (most are listed below) 

HealthData.gov: High quality health data for the U.S.A.

Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Data : Data and statistics related to health and disease.

EDGAR - US securities and Exchange Commission data on company tax filings. 

Bureau of Justice Statistics:  Data related to crime and corrections, as well as data analysis tools. 

IRS Tax Statistics: Data on migration (from filing households), tax filings and more.

Bureau of Economic Analysis: Data on GDP, Personal Spending, as well as interactive tables. 

U.S. Department of Education : Statistics related to education. 

Bureau of Labor Statistics : Look at salaries of various fields, future prospects of professions and more. 

Bureau of Transportation Statistics: Search by mode, by region or by subject. 

U.S. Patent and Trademark Office data: Search and view patents and trademarks.

World Bank Data: Free and open access to data about development in countries around the globe. Data visualization and download available as well. 

CIA World Factbook: Information about countries outside the USA. 

UN Data: UN provides access to data services and collections. Also has links to various country's data home pages. 

EuroStat: Portal for statistics for European Countries. 

Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development: Data related to economic situations around the world. Data on production of various commodities as well as imports, etc.

CIA World Factbook- Available free on Android, and 99c on IOS.

OECD Factbook: The OECD Data App presents 100 economic indicators in a format specially designed for smartphones. It provides a global overview of today’s major economic, social and environmental indicators. Free for Android or iOS.

United States Census Bureau: America's Economy:  19 key economic indicators released from the U.S. Census Bureau, Bureau of Labor Statistics, and Bureau of Economic Analysis. Android or iOS.
