When to Use an Article

Use an article when you need:

Detailed treatment of a narrow focus

Journals go into depth on a narrow aspect of a topic.

Example:  how Wii technology influences learning in education video games

Very current information

Books may not have had time to be written and pubished, but a journal/news article might.

Example:  What are the latest new drugs to treat depression?
