Online Learning Librarian

Hello Online EdD Students!

My name is Dr. Melissa Atkinson, Director of ACU Library's Distance & Online Library Services department. You can contact me for help with selecting and refining a research topic, searching our databases, troubleshooting access issues, getting citation help, helping you through your dissertation topic selection, or other library help. Fun facts: I have been married for 10.5 years to my wonderful husband. We were married on Maui and have been back 3 times since then. I have served as an assistant teacher on Sunday mornings for 5th graders at a local church.

After graduating ACU with a Bachelor's in Mathematics Education, I taught public school for 2.5 years and then decided to pursue a Master's in Library and Information Science. I have been a librarian at ACU for 20 years. I was an online doctoral student at Regent University for four and a half years. On November 19, 2018, I successfully defended my dissertation. My dissertation title is "The relationship between metaliteracy pretest, posttest, and metacognitive strategies for library research skills scale: Creating a metaliteracy course for online Ed.D. students." More information about metaliteracy can be found here: metaliteracy.
