ACU Library Resources for IDs & SMEs

ACU Brown Library resource overview for IDs and SMEs.

Important Library Resources

The ACU Brown Library’s resources for students should help them with any assignment they need to complete. The majority of resources online students need are available on the ACU Library’s Distance Learning Portal.

This page has links to the most commonly used services available to students and faculty. All of these pages are publicly available.

Distance Learning Portal

The Distance Learning Portal is the library home for online students (and online faculty). You might spend a few minutes getting familiar with this resource. An overview of the Distance Learning Portal, along with other video tutorials, can be found on the Library Tutorials page.

Even though SMEs and IDs outside of ACU cannot access the library’s subscribed resources, you can ask the Distance & Online Library Services department (see Distance & Online Librarians page), to look up articles, ebooks, or other sources for you and provide permalinks.

Permalinks give direct access to the record of the article, ebook, or resource, although it does not go directly to the full text, the full text is available through the permalink. Permalinks are required for students to access many articles that are only available through the library’s subscription.

(Note: Some library resources have something similar to permalinks, but are not actually called permalinks. Examples include “Get Link” from Gale databases or Jumpstarts from the Ovid database. If a resource does not have a permalink and the library has access to it, then an alternative link, called a "library access link" will be provided that will allow access.)

Library Tutorials

The Library Tutorials page on the Distance Learning Portal gives student more information on how to access and use the services available to them.
