Tips For Selecting A Poem For Your Research Paper

1. A short poem is not necessarily a better poem. If you choose a short poem, there will be less work to criticize. If you choose a short poem, you will have less material to think about and write about. Longer is better.

2. A recently published poem (like in the last 35 years) is not necessarily a better poem. If you choose a recently published poem, it is less likely you will find criticisms. You need criticisms to write your paper.

3. Do a little research before you select your poem to find out if there have been any criticisms written about it. Some poets write tons of poetry, but not every poem has criticisms. You will save yourself a bit of frustration if you do this step. Choose wisely, young grasshopper.
